MaGach 7c (gimmel) |
|

The MaGach 7c is the final improvement of the M60 'slick' MBT in IDF service. It is Identified by a wedge shaped turret, bazooka skirts, Merkava track and 6 round smoke grenade launchers on both sides of the turret. The hull has added armour on the fenders and nose of the tank while retaining its ability to mount engineer equipment. These vehicles are now slowly being removed from frontline service and replaced with Merkava 3/4 off assembly lines.
The vehicle photos below are from the Museum at Latrun. It was refurbished after being damaged and having a catastrophic fire evidence of which is still visible. Again a full large size photo walk around will appear on our webshots pages in the future.

1a: The above photo shows to good effect the substantial armour added
to the nose of the tank. Take note that accommodation has been made
for attaching the various engineer implements available such as the
Nochri mine roller system. One can also see the MErkava 1/2 style
track added to the vehicle. in general these vehicle retained there
early type road wheels. Although as seen in the Lead photo it is
not uncommon to see latter type (#1 & #2 road wheels left side
above) mounted as well. although in the case of this vehicle it maybe
to put stronger wheels on the front due to the added weight of the
armour package. |

Photos 2 & 3:
The two photos above show the detail of the new headlights mounted
on the added armour. Note that the fender support is shortened and
bolted to the added armour. This may or may not be how it is attached
to the hull, as it may rest on the lower tow ring points and held
in place place by the two fender support points. Lastly note lifting
ring and upper attachment point for Items like Nochri mine roller. |
