After a long wait since the release on the "Wild and Cruel cats", Dr. Menasherob has published this trade publication on the M50 & M51 modified M4 Sherman tanks of the IDF. This publication is printed on standard glossy page stock common to most magazines published today. The photos are in both B/W and color as they range from the late 1940s to the present.

The book is essentially divided into four "sections" the first is a fairly in depth look at the M50 program from the planning stages to its use in action. The book takes us from the early M4s to the M50s use up until the late 1950s. This section includes line drawings of both cast and welded hulls with their original engine decks. The photos in this section are mostly if not all new and never before published. Anyone looking to to build a 1950s pre-Cummins engine M50 will find all the infomation they need including good photos of the markings used.

The second section is  a brief look at the beginning of the M51 program. Though short the few photos given are again new and gives us a lead into the next volume on these tanks to published in the future.

The third section is a look at vehicles in the Littlefield and Latrun collections. They include interiors from the refurbished M50 in the Littlefield Collection and an almost bolt by bolt look at some of the vehicles in Latrun.

The last section is a series of color drawings  showing the various hulls and markings used on the M50 during the period covered by the book. the last page of the is section gives a fairly in depth look and explanation of the markings used on the early M50s.

All told the gives both the vehicle enthusiast and modeler a good look at the early pre Cummins engined M50s. While the section on the M51 is quite brief it does give us some previously unseen photos and lead up to the next book on the M50/51. The back cover has previews of the titles of the next three books. These are "Lioness and Lion vol2', 'Early Israeli Shermans vol3', and 'Israeli Halftracks'. If those books have as much new reference as this one has they will be quite welcome to most AFV enthusiasts and modelers.
